School Uniform
At Sedaven we believe in following a middle-of-the-path policy as far as dress and fashion is concerned, and we generally advocate a conservative style of dress. The latest fads in clothing or hairstyle, especially when it is out-of-line with the main stream of conservative Adventist dress principles, will be unacceptable at Sedaven. Three basic principles underlie/govern the Sedaven Dress Code: Focus on God: We believe that real beauty is found in a beautiful character rather than in outward adornment. Jewellery, excessive make-up, and many hairstyles and clothing fashions tend to focus the attention on the person. This often leads to a situation where the “I” becomes the focus of attention rather than God. Modesty: Certain styles of clothing are not in accordance with Christian modesty, and can, therefore, not find a place on a Christian campus. Cultural norms: Certain fashions may not in themselves be immodest, but are not allowed, because it is still considered to be out-of-line with what is considered culturally refined and conservative. The School reserves the right to define what is culturally appropriate or not. |
